The father of the RG Kar Medical College rape and murder victim has expressed concerns over significant delays in the CBI investigation and alleged administrative mishandling of his daughter's case. Despite three months passing and multiple assurances, no chargesheet has been filed in the high-profile case that sparked nationwide protests after the 31-year-old female doctor was found dead on campus on August 9, 2024.

RG Kar Victim's Father Alleges CBI Chargesheet Delay, Administrative Lapses

The father of the RG Kar Medical College rape and murder victim has voiced significant concerns regarding delays in the investigation process and alleged administrative failures in handling the case.

In Kolkata, the victim's father expressed frustration over the incomplete CBI investigation despite numerous assurances from authorities.

He elaborated, "The lower Court requested details, prompting the CBI to submit a status report. However, their report merely repeats previous statements about a larger conspiracy involving arrested individuals Sandip Ghosh and Abhijit Mondal. Despite the Director's repeated promises over three months to file a chargesheet, they have yet to do so. We have gathered numerous clues in this time."

According to the victim's father, local law enforcement mismanaged the case from its inception. "The CBI is withholding information that we've requested be presented to the Court. Tala Police Station received information about this case well in advance and relocated my daughter's body from the incident location to the seminar room."

He further criticized administrative handling and the Election Commission's response regarding official documentation during his daughter's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.

"While the entire world acknowledges my daughter's death, the Election Commission apparently does not, which is deeply unfortunate. When providing us with the SIR form, the official expressed personal remorse, having already marked 'dead' on the document and merely requesting our signature. I had nowhere to direct my complaints. Our administration is ineffective, and justice is being delayed in these cases. Our next court date isn't until January 7, 2026," he stated.

The Special Intensive Revision process commenced in West Bengal on Saturday, with the Election Commission of India reporting distribution of over 95% of SIR forms across twelve states and Union Territories in Phase II.

Official figures indicate that 48,67,37,064 forms have been delivered to voters out of 50,97,43,173 printed, covering regions including Andaman and Nicobar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.

The tragic incident at RG Kar Medical College occurred on August 9, 2024, when authorities discovered a 31-year-old female postgraduate trainee doctor dead in a campus seminar room. The case sparked nationwide protests and public outrage, with demonstrators demanding justice for the victim.

Following the Calcutta High Court's dissatisfaction with police handling of the investigation, the case was transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation, which has since made several arrests in connection with the crime.
