Delhi Records Lowest November Temperature in 3 Years: Air Quality Remains 'Very Poor' with AQI at 377

At 9 Degrees Celsius, Delhi Records Coldest November Day In 3 Years

Delhi experienced its coldest November day in three years on Sunday, with temperatures plummeting to 9 degrees Celsius, 4.5 degrees below normal, according to the weather office.

This marks the coldest November day since November 29, 2022, when the capital recorded 7.3 degrees Celsius. For comparison, the lowest temperature in November 2023 was 9.2 degrees on November 23, while November 29, 2024, saw a low of 9.5 degrees.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts shallow fog on Monday, with temperatures expected to range between approximately 25 degrees maximum and 9 degrees minimum.

Alongside the cold temperatures, Delhi's air quality remained in the 'very poor' category on Sunday, with the 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) measuring 377.

Data from the CPCB's Sameer app revealed that 11 out of 39 monitoring stations registered AQI levels in the 'severe' category, exceeding readings of 400.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), an AQI between 0-50 is considered 'good,' 51-100 'satisfactory,' 101-200 'moderate,' 201-300 'poor,' 301-400 'very poor,' and 401-500 'severe.' The primary pollutants currently affecting Delhi's air quality are particulate matters PM2.5 and PM10.
