New Delhi:
Rohini Acharya, the daughter of RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, has announced her departure from politics and cut ties with her family. She claimed that family members accused her of purchasing an election ticket in exchange for what they termed a "dirty kidney."
In a heartfelt social media statement on X, Acharya expressed regret over her decision to donate a kidney to her father. She wrote that it became a "huge sin" that she prioritized saving her father over attending to her husband, three children, and in-laws. "I did what I did to save my god, my father, and today it's been called dirty... May none of you ever make a mistake like mine, may no family ever have a daughter like Rohini," she stated.
As these allegations surface, attention has turned toward her family life in Singapore, where she resides with her husband Samaresh Singh and their three children: daughter Ananya and sons Aditya and Arihant.
Rohini Acharya married Samaresh Singh in 2002. He is the son of former commissioner-rank Income Tax officer Rao Ranvijay Singh. After their marriage, the couple initially settled in the United States before relocating to Singapore, where they currently make their home.
Samaresh Singh holds impressive academic credentials, having completed his BA in Economics at Delhi University, followed by a Master's in Economics, Finance and International Business from the Delhi School of Economics. He further enhanced his qualifications with an MBA in Finance from the prestigious INSEAD Business School.
Professionally, Samaresh serves as the Managing Director of Investment Banking, Mergers and Acquisition at Evercore in Singapore. Prior to this role, he held senior positions at Standard Chartered Bank.
In response to Acharya's allegations, the BJP criticized the RJD, pointing out that Lalu Yadav showed preference to his son Tejashwi despite receiving a kidney donation from his daughter.
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha also commented on the family discord, stating, "The anarchy that was visible outside RJD is also reflected inside the family. People with such a mentality, who cannot keep their own family together, how can they run Bihar? It is their personal matter, so we will not say much, but this mentality will decide their future."
