Delhi Red Fort Car Blast Investigation: Prohibited 9mm Cartridges Found and Al Falah University Connection Emerges

The car blast investigation near Red Fort has seen a crucial development with forensic teams discovering three 9 mm caliber cartridges — two live and one empty — at the scene, according to sources.

Sources revealed Sunday that this ammunition type is prohibited for civilian use, raising significant questions about their origin and the incident's nature. Investigators note that no pistol or firearm was recovered at the blast site, adding complexity to the case.

Officials consider these cartridges a vital clue, though the missing weapon has prompted multiple investigative approaches. Forensic experts are currently determining whether the cartridges were fired on-site or deliberately planted to misdirect the investigation.

On Saturday, Delhi Police Crime Branch expanded their inquiry, exploring potential connections to Al Falah University. Officials confirmed two FIRs have been filed — one for cheating and another for forgery — based on evidence gathered thus far.

A Crime Branch team visited the university's Okhla office, delivering a formal notice requesting key documents that might reveal irregularities involving university-associated individuals. Sources indicate this forms part of a broader investigation examining possible misuse of academic or administrative channels related to events preceding the explosion.

New information has emerged from Nuh regarding Dr. Umar Muhammad, who died in the blast. Investigators learned he had been moving around the area for hours before the explosion and had rented a room behind Goyal Ultrasound Centre for 10 days, arranged through Shoeb, an electrician employed at Al Falah University.

Following the blast, teams from Delhi Police, NIA, and CIA Nuh raided the locked accommodation, believing it may contain important evidence. Authorities are analyzing CCTV footage from the nearby ultrasound center, which shows the i20 car involved in the explosion, potentially helping reconstruct Dr. Muhammad's movements.

Multiple teams from the NIA, Delhi Police, and Haryana Police are now conducting extensive searches throughout Nuh and surrounding areas to identify anyone who may have interacted with Umar or could be connected to the explosive device.
