A devastating collision occurred around 6:00 am near Malwa College on the Gwalior-Jhansi Highway in Madhya Pradesh, claiming the lives of five young men on Sunday.
The fatal accident happened when a speeding Fortuner SUV crashed into a sand-laden tractor-trolley, resulting in no survivors. All victims were residents of Gwalior and reportedly friends.
Police reports indicate the Fortuner was traveling from Jhansi toward Gwalior when the incident took place. As the vehicle neared Malwa College, a tractor-trolley emerged from a side turn onto the highway.
The SUV, allegedly moving at excessive speed, lost control upon encountering the tractor, leading to a catastrophic impact.

DSP Nagendra Singh Sikarwar (Crime) told IANS, "The collision was so severe that half of the Fortuner was crushed under the trolley, trapping and killing all five occupants instantly. The mangled wreckage demonstrated the intensity of the crash. Even the vehicle's airbags burst upon impact."
When questioned about the driving conditions, the senior police official stated, "A vehicle like the Fortuner cannot be easily damaged to this unrecognizable extent; this indicates it was traveling at speeds exceeding 120 km per hour. Even the airbags proved ineffective. Tragically, all victims were young, under 25 years of age. Some were only sons in their families."
Following emergency calls, police and rescue services promptly arrived at the scene. With assistance from nearby villagers, authorities employed cutting tools to extract the bodies from the severely damaged car and tractor-trolley.
The extraction process proved challenging due to the car's frame being almost unidentifiable. The bodies were subsequently transported for post-mortem examination, and investigators have begun working to determine the precise circumstances surrounding the accident.
The deceased have been identified as Kshitij alias Prince Rajawat, Kaushal Bhadoria, Aditya Pratap Singh Jadon, Abhimanyu Singh, and another individual whose identity remains pending confirmation.
Initial investigations revealed that the group of close friends was returning from birthday celebrations in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, when the tragedy occurred. What began as a joyous occasion ended in disaster, leaving families and the local community devastated.
Witnesses described a scene of chaos, with highway traffic temporarily disrupted during the prolonged rescue efforts. Authorities have detained the tractor driver for questioning and registered a case to investigate factors including speeding, road conditions, and potential negligence.
