New Delhi:
A 34-year-old man arrested for murdering his extramarital lover and dismembering her body across Noida and Ghaziabad, revealed that the woman had been extorting money from him. Monu Singh, also known as Monu Solanki, who works as a bus driver, killed his lover Preeti Yadav inside a bus.
Authorities discovered Yadav's headless and limbless remains in a Noida drain on November 6. Singh was apprehended on Friday. He is married with two daughters and maintained an illicit relationship with Yadav. Both resided in Noida's Barola area.
During interrogation, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Yamuna Prasad reported that Monu Singh disclosed that Preeti Yadav had started demanding money from him.
Singh additionally alleged that Yadav repeatedly threatened to implicate him or involve his daughters in illegal activities.
The murder occurred on November 5. DCP Prasad stated that the accused admitted to collecting Yadav after secretly taking a sharp-edged tool from her residence. "They consumed food inside the bus, which led to an argument. Singh stated he attacked her with the weapon, decapitated her, and removed her hands to conceal her identity," explained Prasad.

The perpetrator disposed of the torso in a Noida drain and discarded other body parts and the murder weapon in a dry drain near Siddharth Vihar in Ghaziabad. Forensic analysis of the bus and collected evidence confirmed the presence of human blood, Prasad added.
DCP Prasad revealed on Saturday that Yadav's body was discovered in a drain within the jurisdiction of Sector-39 police station, Noida, with toe rings being the only identifiable feature. Nine police teams were assembled to establish the victim's identity and locate the suspect.
"More than 5,000 CCTV cameras were examined, and approximately 1,100 vehicles were inspected. From these, 44 vehicles were prioritized, and their owners and drivers were interrogated," Prasad explained.
During the investigation, police identified a white-and-blue bus moving suspiciously near the crime scene on November 5 with its headlights turned off.
The bus, bearing license plate UP16 KT 0037, was traced to Monu Singh. A First Information Report (FIR) was filed under Sections 103(1) and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further legal proceedings were initiated.
