Delhi Blast Suspects Used 'Dead Drop' Emails To Communicate: Sources

New Delhi:

Terror suspects investigated in connection with the 10/11 Delhi blast utilized a specialized communication method known as 'dead drop' emails, according to sources. This technique was reportedly employed by the arrested doctors to organize their terror activities.

The explosion of an i20 car near Red Fort on November 10 claimed at least 13 lives and injured nearly two dozen people. Doctors Muzammil Shakeel, Umar Mohammad, and Shaheed Saeed are currently under investigation for their potential involvement in the incident.

Authorities are examining possible connections between these doctors and a terror module associated with the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist organization.

Reports indicate a new photograph has emerged showing Delhi suicide bomber Umar Mohammad dressed in medical attire.

Sources reveal that the doctors shared a common email account for communication among themselves and others. They would draft their plans directly in the email drafts folder, allowing others to log in and read the messages. These emails were never actually sent, making their digital trail difficult to track. This 'dead drop' email technique is commonly utilized by terrorist and espionage networks.

Additionally, the suspects reportedly used applications like Threema and Telegram, along with other untraceable platforms, to maintain communication while evading surveillance, according to sources.

Umar Mohammad has been identified as the driver of the exploded i20 vehicle.

Sources indicate a female suspect in the Delhi blast was attempting to flee and had submitted a passport application.

The other two doctors were apprehended shortly before the explosion, with Jammu and Kashmir police subsequently dismantling their terror network. Raids on properties they rented near Delhi yielded nearly 3,000 kg of explosives and bomb-making materials. Police also discovered a rifle and ammunition in Saeed's vehicle.

According to earlier reports from sources, the accused had been planning attacks in Delhi during secret meetings held in Muzammil's room at Al Falah University. It is suggested that Mohammad proceeded with the bombing out of fear following the arrest of his associates.
