K-9 squad examine the site of the car blast near Red Fort in New Delhi on Friday
Delhi Police have detained three individuals, including two doctors from Al Falah University in Haryana who were acquaintances of Dr. Umar Nabi, the driver of the exploded car near Red Fort, officials confirmed on Saturday.
The detentions occurred during coordinated nighttime raids on Friday, conducted jointly by Delhi Police Special Cell and central agencies across Haryana's Dhauj, Nuh, and surrounding areas.
Sources revealed that the Special Cell, working alongside a National Investigation Agency (NIA) team, detained two Al Falah University doctors – Mohammad and Mustakim – from Nuh district.
These doctors allegedly maintained communication with Dr. Muzammil Ganaie, who has been arrested in connection with investigations into a 'white collar' terror module. They were also reportedly close associates of Dr. Umar Nabi, according to sources.
Initial interrogation disclosed that one of the detained doctors was present in Delhi on the day of the explosion. He had traveled to the national capital for an interview at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
Authorities continue questioning Mohammad and Mustakim to determine the extent of their relationship with Dr. Ganaie and any potential involvement in the broader conspiracy under investigation.
In a simultaneous operation in Nuh, investigation agencies detained another individual, identified as Dinesh, also known as 'Dabbu,' for selling fertilizers without proper licensing. Investigators are examining whether his activities extended beyond illegal trade.
Earlier findings revealed that members of the terror module collectively gathered approximately Rs 26 lakh and spent Rs 3 lakh to acquire NPK fertilizer, which can be utilized in manufacturing improvised explosive devices.
Police are investigating whether Dinesh supplied fertilizer to the accused individuals.
In a separate development, officials noted that Dr. Shaheen Sayeed, another Al Falah University doctor arrested in connection with the terror module case, had recently submitted a passport application.
Police verification for her application was conducted on November 3 at room number 29 of the university hostel, where officers photographed her as part of standard procedure.
Agencies are currently evaluating whether her application has any significance to the ongoing investigation.
