Bihar Election Results 2025: Vikassheel Insaan Party led by Mukesh Sahani is facing significant setbacks as the party trails in all 12 constituencies it contested.

In Patna, the political landscape is witnessing a major shift as Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani faces disappointing electoral outcomes. Despite his aggressive negotiations with the opposition Grand Alliance that secured his party 12 seats and a potential Deputy Chief Minister position, Sahani's party is currently trailing in every contested constituency.

The broader opposition Mahagathbandhan alliance is also struggling, leading in merely 38 seats, while the NDA has surged past the 200-seat mark in Bihar's 243-member legislative assembly.

Notably, Sahani himself chose not to contest the election and even withdrew his brother's candidacy in favor of the Rashtriya Janata Dal's nominee. Despite this strategic move, BJP's Sujit Kumar has established a commanding lead of over 7,000 votes in the constituency, leaving the RJD candidate Afzal Ali significantly behind.

Sahani had leveraged his influence among the Mallah, Sahani, and Nishad communities - which collectively represent approximately 9 percent of Bihar's electorate - to secure a prominent position within the opposition coalition.

During his electoral debut in 2020, Sahani's party had won four seats, all contributing to the NDA's strength at that time. The party had also finished second in six constituencies, narrowly losing three of them by fewer than 7,000 votes. VIP's total vote share in that election was 1.52 percent.

Approaching this election with considerable confidence, Sahani, who styles himself as the "son of mallah," experienced tensions with the Grand Alliance just before the second phase of voting, prompting speculation about coalition fractures. Sahani dismissed these reports as "planted" news.

Sahani's journey began as a Bollywood set designer before he established Mukesh Cineworld Pvt Ltd, a company managing sets for films, television productions, and events. He later returned to Bihar with a commitment to uplift his community.

His activism and growing influence within the mallah community attracted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's attention, leading to Sahani joining the BJP where he quickly became a prominent campaigner. He supported the party during both the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and the 2015 Bihar Assembly polls.

However, when his demand for Scheduled Caste status for the Nishad community remained unaddressed, Sahani founded the Vikasheel Insaan Party in 2018, establishing his independent political identity in Bihar's complex political landscape.
