R Lalthangliana from the Mizo National Front secured 6,027 votes, establishing a 590-vote lead over Vanlalsailova of the ruling ZPM who received 5,437 votes.

In the Dampa assembly seat bypoll, Mizo National Front's candidate R Lalthangliana has established a 590-vote lead after the fourth round of counting. The main opposition party's representative garnered 6,027 votes, while Vanlalsailova of the ruling Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) collected 5,437 votes.

The counting process will conclude after five rounds. This bypoll became necessary following the passing of incumbent MNF legislator Lalrintluanga Sailo in July.

The electoral process for the Dampa assembly seat proceeded peacefully on Tuesday, with a strong turnout of 83.07 percent among the 20,888 registered voters.

Five candidates are contesting the seat, representing the ruling Zoram People's Movement (ZPM), the opposition Mizo National Front (MNF), Congress, BJP, and the People's Conference (PC) party.
