Bihar Election Results 2025: NDA Surges Ahead as RJD and Congress Struggle in Vote Count

After five hours of vote counting in the high-stakes Bihar election, the NDA has established a significant lead, with the RJD falling behind. By 1 pm, Tejashwi Yadav's RJD was ahead in only 30 constituencies, while the BJP and JDU were leading in 90 and 79 seats respectively, with Congress showing in just 4 seats.

The electoral battle saw the RJD contesting 143 of the 243 Assembly seats, while Congress fielded candidates in 61 constituencies. The remaining seats within the Mahagathbandhan alliance were distributed among Left parties and Mukesh Sahni's Vikassheel Insaan Party. On the NDA side, both BJP and JDU contested 101 seats each, with Chirag Paswan's LJP (Ram Vilas), Jitan Ram Manjhi's Ham (S), and Upendra Kushwaha's Rashtriya Lok Morcha completing the alliance lineup.

In the previous 2020 Bihar elections, although RJD emerged as the single-largest party, Congress's poor performance allowed the NDA to form government. While RJD secured 75 of the 144 seats it contested, Congress won merely 19 of its 70 contests. The ongoing vote count will reveal whether this year's results mirror the 2020 outcome.

A notable development is Nitish Kumar's JDU making significant improvements compared to its 2020 performance. This comes amid Opposition raising concerns about Nitish Kumar's health and speculation regarding his continuation as Chief Minister. BJP leadership has consistently maintained they are contesting under Nitish Kumar's leadership.
