Banned terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed plans to hold a memorial service on Thursday, September 25, for Yusuf Azhar, the brother of founder Masood Azhar, according to sources who spoke with NDTV.

The service will take place in Peshawar's Marakaz Shaheed Maksudabad with senior Jaish commanders and members in attendance. Sources indicate the event will also serve as a recruitment opportunity. To avoid drawing attention, the group will operate under the pseudonym Al-Murabitun, which translates from Arabic as 'defenders of the land of Islam'.
Yusuf was among 10 family members of Masood Azhar who perished in Indian military strikes on Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah, the terror organization's headquarters in Pakistan's Bahawalpur. These strikes were conducted as part of Operation Sindoor, India's military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
The deaths were subsequently confirmed in a statement attributed to Masood Azhar himself.

While officially considered 'untraceable', Azhar delivered a public speech at a seminary in Pakistan's Punjab province last November, threatening additional terror attacks against India. Despite this, the Pakistani government maintains his whereabouts remain 'unknown'.

In his statement, Azhar revealed that those killed included his older sister and her husband, a nephew and his wife, a niece, and five children from the extended family.
"Ten members of my family were blessed with happiness tonight... five are innocent children, my older sister and her honorable husband. My nephew Fazil and his wife, and my beloved niece Fazilah. Also my dear brother Huzaifah and his mother. Two more dear companions."
A Jaish commander confirmed these deaths in a recently surfaced video, providing further evidence of Pakistan's support for terrorists and attacks against India.

While expressing regret for civilian casualties during Operation Sindoor, India has emphasized that efforts were made to minimize them. According to NDTV sources, the nine targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir had direct connections to terrorist activities.
Intelligence sources also report that Jaish and other terrorist groups targeted during Operation Sindoor, including Hizbul Mujahideen, are relocating and establishing new operational bases.
