Man Arrested for Sexual Assault of Mentally Challenged Woman in Bengaluru Home

Bengaluru:

Police arrested a man on charges of sexually assaulting a mentally challenged woman in Bengaluru's MR Nagar area. The assault reportedly occurred on November 9 when the victim was alone at her residence.

According to police reports, the family had left the woman, who has speech and mobility impairments and possesses the developmental capacity of a child, at home while they attended a wedding ceremony.

The suspect, identified as Vignesh (also known as Daadu), allegedly entered the residence around 11 am. Police officials stated that the accused appeared to be under the influence of narcotics when he forcibly entered the house and secured the door from inside.

Upon returning home, the victim's mother discovered the door latched from within. After forcing entry, she was horrified to find her daughter partially undressed and the perpetrator attempting to hide near the doorway.

The assailant hastily dressed and attempted to escape but was apprehended by neighborhood residents. Witnesses report that locals administered physical punishment before delivering him to authorities.

Law enforcement has registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 75 (sexual harassment), Section 76 (assault or use of criminal force to a woman with intent to disrobe), Section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), and Section 333 (house trespass). The accused remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
