Man Arrested for Breaking Into Home and Sexually Harassing Differently Abled Woman in Bengaluru

Police reported on Wednesday that they have arrested a man for allegedly sexually harassing a 21-year-old differently abled woman.

The incident occurred on November 10 in a neighborhood under Adugodi police station jurisdiction. According to officials, when the perpetrator attempted to escape after the incident, local residents apprehended him, physically confronted him, and subsequently handed him over to law enforcement authorities.

Police investigations revealed that the accused, believed to be under the influence of narcotic substances, allegedly forced entry into the residence and sexually harassed the young woman.

When the victim's mother returned home from attending a function, she discovered her daughter in a state of distress and found the accused concealing himself behind a door. She immediately raised an alarm, prompting the accused to attempt escape. However, neighborhood residents quickly captured him, physically confronted him, and delivered him to police custody, according to a senior police official.

Authorities have registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita: Section 75 (sexual harassment), Section 76 (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), Section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), and Section 333 (house trespass). Police confirmed that the accused has been arrested.
