Amit Shah Transfers Delhi Car Blast Investigation to NIA: Demands Swift Action Following Deadly Explosion Near Red Fort

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has officially transferred the Delhi car blast investigation to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), instructing them to submit their findings promptly. During Tuesday's security review meeting at his residence, Shah directed the Forensic Science Laboratory to thoroughly analyze samples collected from the explosion site and provide a comprehensive report without delay.

This decisive action follows Monday's deadly car explosion near the Red Fort that claimed eight lives and left numerous others injured. The Home Minister formally handed over the case from Delhi Police to the NIA, emphasizing the need for a meticulous investigation with expedited results.

Shah specifically instructed the FSL to examine and match evidence gathered from the blast location, including material samples and remnants from the destroyed vehicle. He stressed the importance of swift coordination to determine the explosives used and identify those responsible for the attack.

Sources reported, "During the high-level security review meeting following the Delhi car blast, Union Home Minister Amit Shah transferred the investigation to the NIA with instructions to submit findings promptly. The FSL was directed to analyze specimens from the blast site and provide explosion details quickly. They were also instructed to match samples collected from victims in the exploded vehicle."

The Home Minister issued a stern warning, directing security agencies to "hunt down each and every culprit" involved, stating that those responsible "will face the full wrath of our agencies."

The security meeting was attended by key officials including Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, NIA Director General Sadanand Vasant Date, and Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golchha. Jammu and Kashmir DGP Nalin Prabhat participated remotely.

Shah instructed officials to investigate all possible angles as they piece together the explosion's cause and perpetrators. He later posted on X: "Chaired review meetings on the Delhi car blast with senior officials. Instructed them to hunt down each and every culprit behind this incident. Everyone involved in this act will face the full wrath of our agencies."

The explosion, which tore through a Hyundai i20 near the Subhash Marg traffic signal by the Red Fort on Monday evening, killed eight people and injured several others. Central agencies including the NIA have joined the investigation amid indications of a potential terrorist act. The Ministry of Home Affairs has formally assigned the case to the NIA, which will now lead the broader investigation under relevant counter-terrorism laws.

After the initial meeting concluded, the Ministry of Home Affairs transferred the investigation to the NIA, considering the incident a possible terrorist attack. This decision reflects growing concerns about the explosion's nature and connections.

The NIA will officially take over from Delhi Police and examine all aspects, including materials used and potential terrorism links. This transfer indicates the government's commitment to ensuring a thorough and coordinated investigation.

Security has been heightened across multiple states following the explosion. The government remains open to all theories while aggressively pursuing leads. All agencies have been instructed to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the explosion's nature and cause, submitting detailed reports as soon as possible.

Previously, a National Security Guard (NSG) post-blast investigation team had gathered forensic evidence alongside the FSL team. Sources indicated that the security review also addressed investigation progress and possible connections to Monday's seizure of explosive materials in Faridabad.

On Tuesday morning, a joint NIA-FSL team revisited the explosion site to collect additional forensic samples. The NIA is expected to soon formally register an FIR and assume responsibility for all evidence previously gathered by Delhi Police, following standard procedure.
