Shaheen was allegedly assigned to establish the women's wing of Jaish-e-Mohammed within India.
Multiple properties in Lucknow underwent raids on Tuesday linked to the discovery of explosives in Faridabad and the Delhi suicide bombing. Among these was a residence belonging to Dr. Parvez, brother of Dr. Shaheen Shahid, from whose vehicle assault rifles and ammunition were seized, according to officials.
Shaheen, employed at Al-Falah University in Faridabad, was among several doctors arrested from the institution on Monday. She allegedly had the responsibility of forming the women's division of the Pakistani terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed. She is also under investigation for potential involvement in the deadly suicide explosion near Delhi's Red Fort on Monday that claimed at least nine lives.
Sources revealed that Shaheen also hails from Lucknow, and the raided property belongs to her brother, Dr. Parvez, who serves as an assistant professor at Integral University in the city. The raid was conducted jointly by Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Lucknow Police.
According to sources, both Shaheen and Parvez are children of Saeed Ansari. Shaheen had secured her position through the Public Service Commission, becoming an assistant professor at Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Medical College in Kanpur.
In 2013, she mysteriously vanished from the college without notification. She had been married to Zafar Hayat, with the couple divorcing in 2015. The medical college officially dismissed Shaheen in 2021.
Previous sources indicated that Shaheen was instructed to establish the Indian branch of Jaish-e-Mohammed's women's wing, known as Jamaat ul-Mominaat, which is headed in Pakistan by Sadia Azhar, sister of the terror group's founder Masood Azhar.
Sadia Azhar's husband, Yusuf, who masterminded the Kandahar hijacking, was among terrorists eliminated during Operation Sindoor, India's response to the Pahalgam terror attack on May 7.
Shaheen worked at the university alongside Dr. Umar Mohammed, the alleged Delhi suicide bomber, and Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, who has also been detained. More than 2,900 kg of explosives, including ammonium nitrate—the chemical used in the Delhi blast—were recovered from two rooms rented under Muzammil's name in Faridabad.
