Top national security agencies are conducting a thorough investigation into the explosion that occurred in a Hyundai i20 at the Subhash Marg traffic signal. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the high-intensity explosion near Delhi's iconic Red Fort. He confirmed that the nation's top investigative agencies are thoroughly examining the incident with maximum intensity and commitment.

"Pained beyond words by the loss of lives in a blast in Delhi. My deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. Have visited the blast site and also met the injured in the hospital. My prayers for their quick recovery," Shah stated in his official communication on X.

He further added, "Top agencies are investigating the incident with full intensity, and will go in-depth into the incident."

The devastating explosion claimed at least eight lives and left 20 individuals injured when it tore through a car carrying passengers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolences following the tragic incident. In his message on X, the Prime Minister stated, "Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the blast in Delhi earlier this evening. May the injured recover at the earliest. Those affected are being assisted by authorities. Reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah Ji and other officials."

Multiple investigative teams, including the National Security Guard (NSG), Delhi Police, Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), and other agencies, are currently conducting thorough investigations at the explosion site.

In an earlier conversation with ANI, Amit Shah detailed that the explosion occurred in a Hyundai i20 vehicle at the Subhash Marg traffic signal near the Red Fort at approximately 7 pm on Monday. The blast injured numerous pedestrians and damaged several nearby vehicles.

The Home Minister confirmed that response teams from the Delhi Crime Branch and Delhi Special Branch arrived at the location within 10 minutes of receiving notification about the explosion.

"This evening, around 7 pm, a blast occurred in a Hyundai i20 car at the Subhash Marg traffic signal near the Red Fort in Delhi. The blast injured some pedestrians and damaged some vehicles. Preliminary reports indicate that some people have lost their lives. Within 10 minutes of receiving the information of the blast, teams from the Delhi Crime Branch and Delhi Special Branch arrived at the spot," Shah explained.

"I have also spoken to the Delhi CP and the Special Branch in-charge. The Delhi CP and the Special Branch in-charge are present at the spot. We are exploring all possibilities and will conduct a thorough investigation, taking all possibilities into account. All options will be investigated immediately and we will present the results to the public," he further stated.

According to a senior official from Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital who spoke with ANI on Monday, the explosion near Gate 1 of the Red Fort Metro station resulted in eight fatalities and seven injuries.
