Delhi Red Fort Explosion: Two Kashmiri Doctors Under Investigation in Terror Conspiracy Case

A deadly explosion near Delhi's Red Fort killed nine people and injured dozens, with investigators questioning two Kashmiri doctors arrested in connection with a Faridabad terror conspiracy. Authorities recovered thousands of kilograms of suspected explosives and weapons from properties rented by Dr. Mujammil Shakeel, who has been identified as a key figure in a "white collar" terrorist network involving radicalized professionals.

Two Kashmiri doctors arrested in the Faridabad terror conspiracy case are being interrogated about the explosion near Delhi's Red Fort that claimed nine lives and left dozens injured. The exact nature of the blast remains undetermined. Home Minister Amit Shah indicated that investigators are exploring all possibilities without ruling anything out.

The explosion occurred shortly after Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana Police teams discovered several thousand kilograms of suspected explosives along with weapons and ammunition from two properties in Haryana's Faridabad. Both residences were leased by Dr. Mujammil Shakeel, a physician from Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama who has been identified as a critical connection in a "white collar" terrorist network involving radicalized professionals. The recovered material is believed to be ammonium nitrate.

Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather, another physician, was apprehended after authorities found an AK-47 rifle in his locker at the Government Medical College (GMC) through a joint operation by Srinagar Police and the Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) Anantnag. According to sources, Rather's confession led to Shakeel's arrest on October 30 and the subsequent discovery of substantial explosive materials.

The explosion, which ignited a fire damaging multiple vehicles nearby, occurred close to one of the entrances of the Red Fort Metro Station. The Red Fort serves as a significant tourist destination in Old Delhi.

Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha informed reporters that "a slow-moving vehicle halted at a traffic signal. An explosion occurred in that vehicle, resulting in damage to surrounding vehicles as well."

Images revealed dismembered bodies on the ground with blood scattered across the roadway.

The "white collar" terror cell was dismantled by police and intelligence agencies during operations across various locations in J&K (including Srinagar, Anantnag, Ganderbal, and Shopian) and Faridabad over recent days.

On Sunday, officials seized 350 kilograms of explosives, 20 timers, assault rifles, handguns, and ammunition from a room that Shakeel had been renting in Dhoj for approximately three and a half years. The raid also yielded a pistol with eight live rounds, two spent cartridges, and two extra magazines.

A second raid conducted 4 kilometers away in Fatehpur Taga village resulted in the confiscation of 2,563 kilograms of suspected explosives. This property was also rented by Shakeel.

Shakeel was employed at Al Falah Medical College and Hospital in Faridabad. Al Falah University in Faridabad's Dhoj, approximately 45 kilometers from Delhi, is a private institution recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
