Union Minister and BJP leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar has claimed there exists a "drug-rape racket" operating throughout specific areas of Hyderabad that primarily targets minor Hindu girls from migrant families originating from West Bengal. He has labeled these purported incidents as 'The Hyderabad Files,' drawing parallels to the controversial web series known as 'Kerala Crime Files.'
According to the Union minister's allegations, young Hindu girls, many of whom are underage, are being systematically enticed, drugged, and subsequently assaulted and abducted in various locations within the Old City area. Kumar referenced a specific incident where a young girl was allegedly lured with chocolates containing drugs.
Kumar further alleges that videos documenting these assaults are utilized to blackmail the victims, compelling them to involve their friends in the criminal operation.
The BJP leader has accused the local police force of deliberate inaction, suggesting they operate under political influence from the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM). He claims law enforcement officials routinely dismiss complaints without conducting proper investigations.
In his statement, Kumar called upon Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to implement immediate measures to address the situation, warning that failure to do so would result in the formation of "Hindu protection squads" throughout the Old City region.
Officials at the Charminar police station in Hyderabad have categorically rejected these sexual abuse allegations, describing them as unfounded. While confirming that an investigation had been conducted and an abducted girl was successfully located, Charminar SHO Ramesh informed NDTV that authorities registered an abduction case despite the girl's statement that she accompanied the accused voluntarily, as she was legally a minor.
"Currently, there is no evidence supporting claims of sexual or drug abuse. The girl has been referred to the Bharosa center for counseling," stated police representatives. Deputy Commissioner of Police Sneha Mehra told NDTV, "If the Union minister provides specific details regarding these allegations, we will thoroughly investigate and file appropriate cases."
