Mahindra Thar drowned in lake during an off-roading trip organized by the group 'Gang of Thars.'
What began as an exciting off-roading adventure for a group of enthusiasts concluded with their Mahindra Thar submerged in a lake near Delhi. The SUV subsequently required extraction from the water using another Thar 4x4.
Numerous off-roading groups in the national capital region (NCR) regularly explore the Aravallis adjacent to Gurugram and Faridabad during weekends. On Sunday, one such group, known as 'Gang of Thars,' decided to test their 'trusted' vehicles across various terrains. Their journey took an unfortunate turn when they attempted to drive through a lake, resulting in one of the Thars becoming completely submerged.
Footage from the scene displays the Mahindra Thar underwater while the driver stands nearby with rolled-up jeans. The driver is captured conversing with another Thar driver who remarks, "Mujhe is cheez ki khushi hai me theek hu (I am glad I am alright)." He further adds, "Bhaisahab, me hairaan hu aap nikal kaise gaye ho! (I am surprised how you managed to escape from the car)."
In the background, individuals can be observed connecting the submerged Thar to another SUV in an attempt to retrieve it.

An additional video documents the challenging effort to extract the SUV, which typically weighs between 1700 kg and 1845 kg, from the water.
Details regarding how the accident occurred or whether any passengers were accompanying the driver remain unclear.
Off-roading involves driving or riding vehicles on unpaved surfaces such as sand, gravel, mud, snow, or rocks, rather than on conventional public roads.
The SUV has developed a notorious reputation for involvement in road accidents and dangerous stunts. Last month, viral footage showed a Mahindra Thar being driven recklessly near Gurugram's Sadar Bazaar area, with a passenger standing on the side-step, door open, urinating from the moving vehicle.
During an interaction with reporters on Saturday, Haryana Director General of Police, OP Singh, emphasized that Thar vehicles receive particular scrutiny during vehicle checks.
"If it's a Thar, how can we let it go? Or if it's a Bullet motorcycle... all rogue elements use these two. The choice of vehicle reflects your mindset. People who drive Thars perform stunts on the road. The son of an assistant commissioner of police ran over someone while driving a Thar. He wants his son freed, and we asked him whose name the car is registered in. It's in his name, so he is the rogue element," Singh stated in Hindi.
Addressing a fellow police officer, he continued: "If we make a list of cops, how many will have a Thar? And whoever has it, he must be crazy ('dimaag ghuma hua hoga uska')... It's a statement. The Thar is not a car, it's a statement which says 'this is how I am'. Okay then, suffer. You can't have it both ways. You can't indulge in hooliganism and then expect not to get caught."
