In a devastating incident, five family members lost their lives when the roof of their home collapsed in the Diara area of Patna district, under the Danapur Assembly constituency.

The tragedy struck at Manas Naya Panapur 42 Patti village during the late hours of Sunday night.

Those who perished in the incident were identified as Bablu Khan (32), his wife Roshan Khatoon (30), and their three children: Mohammad Chand (10), Rukhsar (12), and two-year-old Chandni.

Local residents reported that the family had retired for the night after dinner when the structure suddenly gave way. Neighbors, alerted by the sound of the collapse, rushed to assist but found the dwelling completely flattened.

According to Panchayat head Vakil Rai, it took several hours of effort to recover all five bodies from beneath the rubble.

Village residents revealed that the house was built under the Indira Awas Yojana housing scheme, and had already shown signs of deterioration with visible cracks in both the walls and roof. The family's financial constraints reportedly prevented them from undertaking necessary repairs.

The community has called for appropriate compensation and prompt assistance from government authorities in the wake of this calamity.

The local station house officer confirmed that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination and an official administrative investigation has commenced.

Former village head CP Singh noted that numerous aging structures in the Diara region are in poor condition, emphasizing the need for preventive measures by the administration to avoid similar tragedies.

The incident has deeply shocked residents throughout the area.

Community members stressed the importance of regular inspections and reinforcement of older buildings, highlighting that proper maintenance and quality control of housing scheme constructions are essential to prevent further loss of life.

Recent monsoon flooding in the Diara areas has reportedly contributed to the weakening of structures throughout the region, exacerbating existing structural problems.

Local law enforcement continues to monitor the situation as the community mourns this tragic loss.
