A driver and conductor of a Pathanamthitta-Bengaluru private bus service were violently assaulted by passengers who had missed their scheduled pickup time in Kerala's Kottayam district. CCTV footage captured the attack, which occurred after the passengers were told to board at a later stop due to delays. The incident has led to police investigation after the injured crew sought medical treatment.

New Delhi:

The driver and conductor of an inter-state private bus were brutally assaulted by a group of men at Kodimatha in Kerala's Kottayam district on Sunday evening. The attack occurred on a Pathanamthitta-Bengaluru private service and CCTV footage of the incident is being widely shared across social media platforms.

According to the crew, the assailants had booked their seats online from Chingavanam and Kodimatha but failed to arrive at the designated pick-up point on time. Driver Ajith had instructed them to board at the subsequent stop due to the bus already being delayed.

The group allegedly pursued the bus, boarded at the next stop, and confronted the crew members. CCTV footage reveals the men entering the driver's cabin, engaging in an argument with the driver before physically attacking both him and the conductor. Two additional men boarded from Kodimatha and participated in the assault.

Both Ajith and the conductor required medical treatment at Kottayam District Hospital following the incident.

The Kottayam West Police have registered a case based on the victims' complaint and have initiated an investigation into the matter.
