23-Year-Old Man Arrested for Kidnapping and Assaulting 6-Year-Old Boy in Delhi Over Personal Grudge

The 23-year-old suspect admitted to abducting and harming the child due to personal resentment, according to police officials.

Police have detained a 23-year-old man for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a six-year-old boy in the Subhash Place area of northwest Delhi, motivated by a personal grudge, authorities announced on Sunday.

The suspect, identified as Mohammad Samem from Shakurbasti, was apprehended within hours of the incident, and the young victim was rescued following an extensive search operation conducted by law enforcement.

Police records indicate that a PCR call was received at approximately 3:18 am on November 4, reporting the abduction of a six-year-old boy from the Subhash Place neighborhood.

"The boy's mother reported that her son had visited a nearby shop around 7 pm on November 3 but failed to return home. Suspecting kidnapping, she contacted law enforcement," a senior police official stated.

Following her complaint, authorities registered an FIR and initiated an immediate search operation. The team examined CCTV footage from surrounding streets and establishments, while simultaneously distributing photographs of the missing child to local police personnel and neighboring stations, the official added.

"During the search, officers discovered the injured boy in bushes near railway tracks and transferred him to a hospital for medical treatment," the official explained, adding that the team subsequently traced and arrested the suspect in Shakurbasti.

During questioning, Samem confessed that he had kidnapped and assaulted the child because of a personal grudge, according to police.

Authorities are continuing to interrogate the accused to determine if others were involved in the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
