Fact Check: Uttarakhand University Debunks Fake Notice About Extra Marks for PM Modi's Event Attendance

A fabricated notice claiming Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University would award students 50 internal marks for attending PM Modi's November 2025 event has been officially debunked. Both the university and PIB Fact Check confirmed the document is fake, with no mandatory attendance requirements or marks incentives for the Prime Minister's silver jubilee celebration. Police have filed a case against those spreading this misinformation and are working to identify the culprits behind the forgery.

Uttarakhand University Giving Extra Marks For Attending PM Modi's Event? A Fact-Check

The university has issued a statement clarifying that the circulated notice is completely "false".

A controversial notice purportedly from Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University that claimed students would receive "50 internal marks" for mandatory attendance at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silver jubilee celebration event has been proven fake after thorough fact-checking by both government agencies and university officials.

The fabricated notice, which targeted B.Tech CSE and BCA second-year students, stated that attendance at the Prime Minister's November 9th, 2025 event at FRI was mandatory and would count toward credits for the Bharatiya Gyan Parampara (Indian Knowledge System) course. Notably, the document lacked official signatures despite supposedly being issued by department heads.

Following its viral spread on social media, Opposition leaders quickly criticized the BJP. Uttarakhand Congress spokesperson Garima Mehra Dasauni suggested the ruling party had "run out of workers and leaders," while activist-lawyer Prashant Bhushan sarcastically questioned how many marks would be awarded for "shouting Modi Modi."

The government's official fact-checking division, PIB Fact Check, definitively labeled the notice as "fake" on social media, stating: "No such order has been issued by the university." They warned the public against believing the fraudulent communication.

Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University reinforced this position with their own statement on Facebook: "A fake notice has been circulated in the name of DBUU regarding marks for the upcoming visit to FRI on 09 November 2025. We would like to clarify that the notice is completely false and not issued or approved by the University. It does not bear any official signature, reference number, or authorization."

The university has since filed a formal complaint, prompting Dehradun police to register a case for "spreading misleading news on social media." Authorities are working to identify those responsible for creating and distributing the fake document.

According to an official release, "Subhashit Goswami, Registrar of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand University, Prem Nagar, submitted a petition to the Premnagar police station, stating that the viral letter was forged and that no such official letter had been issued by his educational institution."

Law enforcement has issued a public appeal urging citizens not to share unverified information on social media platforms to prevent the further spread of misinformation.
