Police have taken a woman into custody in Mirzapur district following allegations of attempted religious conversion through financial incentives.
On Saturday, authorities arrested a woman who was accused of trying to convert a man to Christianity by offering monetary inducements, according to official sources.
The case originated from a complaint filed by Dhruvchandra, a resident of Rampur, at the Rajgarh police station on November 7. In his statement, he claimed the woman attempted to persuade him to abandon Hinduism for Christianity by providing financial benefits.
Following the written complaint, law enforcement officials registered a case under provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act and launched an investigation into the matter.
Based on intelligence received, a police team from Rajgarh apprehended the accused on Saturday. The woman, identified as Pramila from Chandanpur village, was subsequently arrested.
Authorities confirmed that after her arrest, the woman was processed according to legal procedures and remanded to judicial custody.
