Eagle Crashes Into Glass Window, Injuring Train Driver In Jammu And Kashmir

In a startling incident captured on video, an eagle can be observed lying on the floor of a locomotive cabin after an unexpected collision.

An unfortunate accident occurred on Saturday when an eagle crashed through the windscreen of a train operating in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district. The impact resulted in the bird entering the cabin and causing minor injuries to the locomotive pilot.

The collision took place while the Baramulla-Banihal train was traveling between Bijbehara and Anantnag railway stations.

Footage that has emerged from the incident shows the eagle positioned on the locomotive cabin floor. The windscreen displays a significant hole with glass fragments scattered throughout the area. Despite sustaining facial injuries, the locomotive pilot can be seen maintaining communication via radio and continuing to perform his duties.

The once majestic bird, now frightened and confined to a corner of the engine cabin, was struck by the high-speed train's windscreen while the vehicle was in motion between Bijbehara and Anantnag. This incident serves as a reminder that even creatures of great strength experience moments of vulnerability. The encounter between nature's grace and human technology fortunately ended with both the eagle and the pilot surviving.

Following the incident, the train was stopped at Anantnag railway station, where medical personnel provided first aid to the injured locomotive pilot.

In a comparable event from September, an Air India Express flight destined for Bengaluru was cancelled after an eagle struck the aircraft's nose at Vijayawada Airport in Andhra Pradesh. An airline official informed PTI that this bird strike incident occurred prior to the aircraft's takeoff.

Air India Express released a statement saying, "The aircraft scheduled to operate the Vijayawada-Bengaluru flight experienced a suspected bird strike at Vijayawada airport, resulting in the cancellation of the service. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by circumstances beyond the airline's control."
