Prashant Kishor stated that the people of Bihar are looking for a new voting option this time - Jan Suraaj.
Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, claiming he is "instilling fear of Lalu Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)" among voters to "secure votes" in the Bihar elections. According to Kishor, Bihar's electorate is seeking a fresh alternative - the Jan Suraaj party.
"PM Modi attempts to gain votes by creating fear about the RJD because he has nothing substantive to offer. For decades, the most effective strategy for NDA, BJP, and Nitish Kumar has been to evoke fear of Lalu, making people think that even if development is lacking, at least 'jungle raj' won't return. However, the situation has evolved this time. If you argue against the return of Jungle Raj, why should voters choose NDA again? Jan Suraaj presents a new alternative," Kishor explained.
"Jungle raj" refers to the period when Bihar was governed by RJD chief Lalu Yadav - former Chief Minister and father of Grand Alliance Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav. The BJP has consistently used this term to criticize the Opposition over the years.
Last week, the PM remarked that the 'jungle raj' in Bihar would remain unforgotten for another century and urged BJP workers to encourage elderly voters to share memories of that era with younger generations. He also mocked the Opposition alliance, calling it "lathbandhan" (a coalition of criminals) rather than gathbandhan (alliance), highlighting that all its leaders from Delhi and Bihar are currently out on bail.
The first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections achieved a historic 64.66 percent voter turnout - the highest in the state's electoral history. Previously, the highest turnout for a Bihar Assembly election was 62.57 percent in 2000. For Lok Sabha elections, the state's highest voter participation was 64.6 percent in 1998.
The second phase of polling is scheduled for November 11, with vote counting set for November 14.
