Bengaluru:

Police have charged a Rapido bike taxi driver in Bengaluru for allegedly attempting to grab a female passenger's legs during her ride. The woman recorded video evidence of the incident before approaching law enforcement.

According to the official complaint, the incident took place at approximately 4 pm on Thursday. The Wilson Garden Police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation into the matter.

Rapido has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.

The victim shared her experience on Instagram, writing: "While returning to my PG (Paying Guest) from Church Street on a Rapido ride, the captain (rider) tried to grab my legs while riding."

"It happened so suddenly that I couldn't even process it, let alone record it. When he did it again, I told him, 'Bhaiya, kya kar rahe ho, mat karo' (What are you doing? Don't do this...) but he didn't stop."

Being unfamiliar with the area, the woman explained she felt unable to ask the driver to stop the vehicle as she had no knowledge of where they were traveling.

She further described how upon reaching her destination, a bystander noticed her distress and inquired about the situation.

"When I told him, he confronted the captain. The captain apologized and promised not to repeat such behavior - but as he departed, he pointed his finger at me threateningly, which made me feel even more vulnerable," she stated.

"I'm sharing this because no woman should have to experience such treatment - not in a cab, not on a bike, not anywhere. This isn't the first time I've faced similar harassment. However, today I couldn't remain silent due to how unsafe I felt," the woman concluded in her Instagram post.
