Tragic Death of 9-Year-Old in Jaipur School: Parents Allege Bullying and Negligence After Child's Suicide

A 9-year-old student at Jaipur's prestigious Neerja Modi School jumped to her death from the fourth floor amid allegations of persistent bullying that went unaddressed despite parental complaints. CCTV footage shows the child approaching her teacher twice before the incident, while questions arise about school safety measures and compliance with CBSE surveillance guidelines. Authorities have begun investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic case.

"Don't Send Me": Parents Say 9-Year-Old Who Jumped To Death Was Bullied In School

The school administration has yet to issue any statement regarding this tragic incident.

In a residential area of Jaipur, the heartbreaking voice recording of nine-year-old Amaiyra remains preserved on her mother's WhatsApp from a year ago. The Class 4 student can be heard crying and pleading: "I don't want to go to school... don't send me."

Shivani Meena, Amaiyra's mother, had recorded this audio and forwarded it to her daughter's teacher, hoping it would raise awareness about her child's distress.

"I approached the class teacher repeatedly, and I contacted the class coordinator multiple times throughout the past year, but they would either dismiss my concerns or pay no attention," the mother claimed.

One year later, on November 1, the nine-year-old pupil from Jaipur's esteemed Neerja Modi School jumped from the fourth floor of the school building, resulting in her immediate death. Her parents assert that their numerous complaints about bullying, teasing, and verbal abuse with "sexual connotations" were consistently ignored by school officials.

Vijay Meena, her father, described a Parent-Teacher Meeting where a group of children gestured toward Amaiyra and another boy, causing her to hide behind him in embarrassment. Vijay raised this concern during the meeting.

"The teacher informed me that this is a coeducational institution and Amaiyra should learn to communicate with all children, including boys. I responded by saying that 'it is my daughter's personal choice if she doesn't want to interact with boys,'" Vijay explained.

Classroom CCTV footage examined by investigators shows Amaiyra approaching her teacher twice shortly before she climbed the railing and jumped. What she communicated remains unknown because, despite CBSE guidelines requiring audio recording in classroom surveillance systems, the footage contains no sound.

"We demand explanations. We want the school to tell us: with more than 5,000 students and a six-story building, how did they obtain permission to construct additional floors without installing protective grills or safety nets? This is a basic safety requirement. How can floors be left unprotected with so many children present? Why is there no audio in the CCTV footage as mandated by CBSE guidelines? According to regulations, 15 days of CCTV recordings should be available. This is a prestigious Jaipur school charging substantial fees, but where is their accountability?" questioned Amaiyra's uncle, Sahil.

Jaipur's Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rajarshi Raj Verma, informed NDTV that authorities have recorded the parents' statements and are verifying all information.

"We are documenting everything and conducting verification. Initially, the parents were too shocked to speak, but now we will record all their concerns and thoroughly investigate," he stated.

District Education Officer (Primary) Ramniwas Sharma confirmed that his department will take the parents' statements within the next two to three days in the presence of police officials.

Regarding allegations about "inappropriate language," the officer mentioned this had not been brought to his attention, but some students had indicated that Amaiyra was reluctant to attend school that day, and certain classmates had reported the use of offensive language.

The school authorities have not provided any comment on the situation thus far.
