Tragic Murder-Suicide in Karnataka: Man Kills Daughter After Wife Elopes with Lover

A case of abetment of suicide has been registered under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita following a tragic incident in Karnataka.

In Kolar district, a 37-year-old man allegedly killed his four-year-old daughter before taking his own life after discovering his wife had eloped with another man, according to police statements released Friday.

The devastating events unfolded on Tuesday night in Mulbagal taluk. Before departing, Lokesh's wife Navyashri left a note stating she no longer wished to remain in the marriage and desired a divorce. She explicitly requested that he not attempt to find her.

Police reported that Lokesh filed a missing person complaint regarding his wife on Tuesday. The couple had been married for four years.

Following the filing of the complaint, Lokesh took his daughter Niharika out in his car. He brought her to a bakery where he purchased her favorite items. Subsequently, he allegedly strangled her inside the vehicle before ending his own life, according to a senior police officer's account.

On Wednesday, authorities discovered Niharika's body inside the abandoned car by the roadside, while Lokesh was found hanging from a nearby tree.

The investigating officer indicated that preliminary findings suggest Lokesh's wife had been involved in a relationship with another man and had been seeking to divorce him.

Based on a complaint filed by Lokesh's father, authorities have registered a case of abetment to suicide under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police are awaiting the post-mortem report to definitively determine the exact cause of death.
