A 57-year-old Haryana Police sub-inspector was fatally attacked after attempting to stop a group of individuals who were creating a disturbance outside his residence, according to police statements released on Friday.
The violent incident occurred around 11 pm on Thursday.
Sub-Inspector Ramesh Kumar was killed by assailants who used bricks and sticks to beat him in the Dhani Shyam Lal area, police reported.
Superintendent of Police Shashank Kumar Sawan stated that the group initially departed after being reprimanded by Kumar, but later returned and launched an attack with bricks, inflicting fatal head injuries.
Law enforcement officials have filed charges against ten individuals in relation to the murder and have apprehended five suspects.
The SP mentioned that the attackers resided in the same neighborhood as the victim.
Police have confiscated a car and a scooter that were used by the accused.
Kumar was serving at the office of the Additional Director General of Police and was scheduled to retire in January.
He is survived by two daughters and a son, according to the SP.
