The incident occurred on November 1 at a private school in Jaipur.
Jaipur:
Investigators have revealed that the nine-year-old girl who allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the fourth floor of a private Jaipur school building last week had expressed reluctance to attend classes that day.
This information emerges as the parents of the Class 4 student have raised allegations that their daughter was being bullied at school.
According to sources within the Rajasthan education department, two classmates from Neerja Modi School reported that the girl had told them she did not wish to attend school on that particular day.
However, these students were unable to identify the specific reason behind her reluctance. "The investigation team may need to question her parents and relatives to gather additional details," one source indicated.
CCTV footage captured the student climbing over a railing and jumping from the fourth floor on November 1. Other students in the footage appear to be walking normally. She was immediately rushed to a hospital where medical staff pronounced her dead.
The child's parents have claimed she was experiencing bullying at school. They stated they had previously reported these concerns in September as well as a year prior, but no action was taken by school authorities.
Ramniwar Sharma, District Education Officer (Primary), who is leading the investigation, stated that two students had complained to their teacher after others reportedly used inappropriate language in class.
"The teacher can be seen talking to these two students on CCTV. The student who died by suicide had also approached the teacher twice. We are still working to determine if inappropriate language was directed at her and whether she had reported this to her teacher," he explained.
The school has not yet released any statement regarding the student's death. The investigation team is expected to submit its findings today.
Police previously stated that upon arriving at the school, they did not find any blood at the location where the girl had fallen.
"They completely disregarded the education department. The representative of principal Indu Dave did not even answer our call," Sharma noted earlier.
The student was an only child. Her mother works at a bank, while her father is employed by a private company.
