Family of Meerut Drum Murder Accused to Sell Home and Relocate After Social and Financial Devastation

Eight months after the shocking murder case where Muskan Rastogi and her lover allegedly killed her husband Saurabh Rajput, dismembered his body, and concealed it in a cement-filled drum, the accused's family has decided to leave Meerut. Facing social isolation and financial ruin, they've put their house up for sale in hopes of starting fresh elsewhere, while the accused remain in judicial custody.

Meerut Drum Murder Case: Accused's Family To Leave City, Wants Fresh Start

The family of Muskan Rastogi has reported that their social and financial circumstances have significantly worsened since the tragic incident.

Meerut (UP):

In Meerut's Indiranagar, the family of Muskan Rastogi is preparing to relocate eight months following the murder of Saurabh Rajput, as the incident continues to cast a dark shadow over their lives.

A 'House for sale' notice appeared outside their home on Wednesday.

Speaking to PTI on Thursday, Muskan's father Pramod Rastogi expressed that the family no longer desires to remain in Meerut.

"This place only holds painful memories for us now. We wish to relocate and begin anew," he stated.

Both Pramod's wife Kavita and son Rahul have endorsed this decision.

The family explained that their social standing and financial stability have deteriorated dramatically since the March 3 incident. Pramod's jewelry business faces imminent closure, with customers avoiding the establishment and creditors suspending transactions.

Additionally, Muskan's younger sister, who previously offered tutoring services from their home, lost her income when parents stopped sending their children.

Police records indicate that Muskan and her partner Sahil Shukla allegedly murdered her husband Saurabh Rajput on March 3. The pair reportedly dismembered the body into four pieces, placed them in a drum filled with cement, before fleeing to Himachal Pradesh.

Muskan later admitted to the crime when speaking with her family, who subsequently informed authorities.

Rahul, also known as Bablu, told local media outlets that the house now listed for sale was reportedly constructed using funds Saurabh had sent from London.

"They concealed the truth and built this house with Saurabh's money. Now they're selling it," he claimed.

Muskan and Sahil were apprehended and presented before the court on March 19, after which they were remanded to judicial custody. They currently remain in Meerut district jail, where Muskan is pregnant.

Saurabh's family has requested a DNA test for the unborn child, stating they would only accept the baby if it's confirmed to be Saurabh's.

According to a local police official, Sahil is currently engaged in agricultural work within the jail facility.

The official added that only Sahil's brother and grandmother visit him, while Muskan's family has completely cut ties with her.
