Haridwar:

A chemical engineer reportedly took his own life by confining himself in a smoke-filled room in Haridwar after experiencing substantial financial losses in stock market investments, authorities reported on Thursday.

Police discovered a suicide note in the room where Love Kumar indicated he was taking this drastic action because of financial difficulties and an ongoing property dispute.

Senior Sub-Inspector Satyendra Bhandari from the Kankhal police station stated that the incident took place on Wednesday within the Arihant Vihar neighborhood.

Love Kumar, who worked as a chemical engineer, created smoke by igniting coal on a heater inside his room and locked himself inside, resulting in death by asphyxiation.

Prior to this tragic event, Kumar had sent a message to his wife via WhatsApp threatening to end his life using carbon monoxide.

Police officials revealed that Kumar was profoundly affected by his stock market losses and had developed a drinking problem. This habit had troubled his wife so much that she had relocated to her parents' home with their children.

After receiving Kumar's alarming WhatsApp message, his wife tried calling him repeatedly. When he failed to answer, family members hurried to his location.

When authorities arrived and forced entry into the room, they found it filled with smoke and Kumar unconscious. He was immediately transported to a hospital, where medical professionals pronounced him deceased.

The investigation continues, according to police.
