Fatal Bus-Tanker Collision in Hathras: 4 Dead, 21 Injured on Aligarh-Agra Highway

The tragic collision occurred at approximately 4:30 pm on Thursday on the Aligarh-Agra highway.

A devastating accident claimed four lives, including that of a 12-year-old boy, when a state transport bus collided head-on with a tanker near Samamai village on the Aligarh-Agra highway in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district on Thursday, according to officials.

Twenty-one people sustained injuries in the crash and were promptly transported to the district hospital. Medical authorities subsequently referred four of the more seriously injured victims to a specialized facility in Aligarh for advanced treatment.

Investigators report that the accident occurred around 4:30 pm when the roadways bus traveling from Aligarh to Hathras collided with an oncoming tanker. According to police statements, the bus driver attempted to avoid hitting a motorcycle on the road, resulting in the catastrophic collision near Samamai village within the jurisdiction of Sasni police station.

Several terrified passengers reportedly jumped from the bus during the incident. Emergency responders and local authorities first transported the injured to the community health center in Sasni before transferring them to the district hospital for more comprehensive care.

Upon receiving notification of the accident, senior district officials promptly visited both the crash site and the hospital facility.

District Magistrate (DM) Atul Vats and Superintendent of Police (SP) Chiranjiv Nath Sinha personally visited the hospital to meet with injured victims and directed Chief Medical Officer (in-charge) Dr. Rajiv Rai and Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Surya Prakash to ensure appropriate medical care for all affected individuals.

Officials identified the deceased as Kuldeep (12), Maharaj Singh (50), Sonu (52), and Arjun (32), who was the bus conductor.

"The accident occurred when the bus driver attempted to avoid hitting a motorcyclist, resulting in a head-on collision with the tanker," the District Magistrate explained to reporters. "Twelve injured persons were initially brought to the hospital, and three deaths were confirmed at that time. A woman trapped beneath the bus was successfully rescued. We are making every effort to provide the best possible treatment for all injured victims."

Police later confirmed that a fourth injured person subsequently succumbed to their injuries, bringing the total fatality count to four.

Authorities have revised their official report, stating that 21 people were injured in addition to the four fatalities. Four of the more severely injured victims have been transferred to Aligarh to receive specialized medical treatment.

Police officials have initiated formal legal proceedings regarding the incident.
