Following the incident, the woman was hospitalized after her husband's violent assault.
In a horrifying incident in Madhya Pradesh's Jhabua district, a man allegedly severed his wife's nose due to unfounded suspicions of infidelity, according to police statements released Wednesday.
The violent attack took place Tuesday in Padalwa village within the Ranapur police jurisdiction. Authorities have confirmed that the accused husband has been arrested and remanded to custody.
Superintendent of Police Shiv Dayal Singh informed ANI, "A complaint was received at Ranapur police station that the husband of a 23-year-old woman assaulted her and inflicted an injury on her nose. Following her hospitalization and receipt of the Medico-Legal Certificate, authorities filed an FIR and apprehended the accused."
Initial investigations revealed that the husband harbored persistent doubts about his wife's character, which ultimately motivated the brutal assault.
Reports indicate that the accused, identified as Rakesh Bilwal, had recently traveled with his wife to Gujarat for employment opportunities. During their stay, tensions escalated over his suspicions regarding her fidelity. The couple subsequently returned to their home village on Tuesday.
The victim recounted the traumatic experience, stating, "Upon our arrival home, I had requested a divorce during our journey from Gujarat. He suggested discussing the matter with my family at home. However, immediately after reaching our residence, he began assaulting me with a stick before using a blade to cut my nose. Afterward, he transported me to the hospital. Despite my son's desperate pleas, he continued the attack relentlessly."
