30-Year-Old LIC Officer Collapses and Dies During Cricket Match in Jhansi: Suspected Cardiac Arrest

Ravindra, who held the position of Development Officer at LIC for two years, was the middle child among three brothers.

In a tragic incident on Wednesday morning, a 30-year-old LIC development officer suddenly collapsed and died while playing cricket in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. The deceased, identified as Ravindra Ahirwar from the Nalganj area in Sipri Bazaar, Jhansi, was bowling during a friendly match when he began feeling unwell. After drinking water, he vomited and then lost consciousness.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred at the Government Inter College (GIC) ground in Jhansi. Ravindra had joined his friends for a cricket match after several weeks of absence. When he collapsed, his teammates immediately rushed him to Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College, where medical professionals pronounced him dead upon arrival.

"He was in excellent health and very cheerful. This morning, he woke up early after a long time and shared tea with his father. After bidding his father farewell, he headed to the GIC ground to play cricket. Approximately an hour after he left, we received news that his condition had deteriorated. He was immediately taken to the medical college, where doctors declared him dead," Arvind Ahirwar, his younger brother, told NDTV.

Ravindra had secured his position as a Development Officer with LIC two years ago. According to his family, he was deeply committed to both his professional work and his passion for cricket.

Witnesses at the cricket ground reported that Ravindra had bowled several overs before taking a break to drink water. Shortly after drinking, he began vomiting and collapsed on the field. Initially, his teammates thought he was suffering from dehydration, but they quickly recognized the gravity of the situation when he became unresponsive.

Dr. Sachin Mahor, Chief Medical Superintendent at Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College, indicated that preliminary observations suggest a possible cardiac arrest. However, he emphasized that the exact cause of death would only be confirmed following a post-mortem examination.

"We will only know the definitive cause of death after completing a post-mortem," stated Dr. Mahor.
