Dhanbad Police executed a comprehensive crackdown against the infamous 'Wasseypur gang' on Tuesday, conducting simultaneous raids across 30 different locations throughout the district. The operation resulted in the arrest of seven associates of Prince Khan, the gang's fugitive leader.
The extensive law enforcement action commenced at approximately 3 am and continued for over six hours under SSP Sanjeev Kumar's direct supervision. Multiple police stations contributed teams to the effort, which was further bolstered by specialized units.
The operation yielded seven arrests while numerous other individuals were detained for interrogation. Among those apprehended were Firoz Malik from Shamsher Nagar, Ladla Khan, Saheb Qureshi, Mohammad W., Arif (known as DJ), Parvez Khan, and Mohammad Tausif.
According to police statements, many of the arrested individuals have established criminal histories, having served as shooters, extortion collectors, or logistical support personnel within Prince Khan's criminal network.
During the methodically coordinated searches, authorities confiscated weapons, ammunition, cash, mobile phones, and various critical documents. Officials indicated that the seized materials are currently under examination, with formal details pending verification.
Sources revealed that the operation was initiated following reliable intelligence suggesting gang members were planning a significant criminal undertaking, with information indicating a recent smuggling of foreign-manufactured weapons into Wasseypur.
Law enforcement officials described the crackdown as a strategic initiative aimed at dismantling the gang's financial infrastructure, logistical capabilities, and ground-level support network.
Initial investigations have revealed that the gang's connections extend beyond traditional criminal elements to include local land dealers and certain white-collar individuals allegedly supporting the gang through property transactions, hawala-style funding operations, and weapons procurement.
Authorities are currently compiling a comprehensive list of all suspected collaborators, with additional arrests anticipated in the near future.
Prince Khan, ranked among Jharkhand's most wanted criminals, has successfully evaded capture for four years and is believed to be hiding in Dubai. Following a request from Jharkhand Police, Interpol has issued a Red Corner Notice (RCN) for his arrest. He faces multiple charges including murder, extortion, shooting incidents, and criminal conspiracy.
Despite remaining a fugitive, Khan has maintained a provocative social media presence, frequently posting videos claiming responsibility for various crimes and issuing threats.
