Municipal Vehicle Falls Into River Moments After Inauguration In Kerala

In a startling incident in Kerala's Palakkad district, a newly acquired municipal vehicle plunged into a river immediately following its inauguration ceremony on Monday. Fortunately, both occupants emerged from the accident without injuries.

The vehicle, which had been purchased for the reusable materials collection center in Vadakkanchery Municipality, was being officially launched during a flag-off ceremony presided over by Municipal Chairman PN Surendran. Shortly after the ceremonial proceedings concluded, the vehicle suddenly lost control and careened directly into a nearby river.

As the vehicle began to submerge, the quick-thinking driver and a municipal staff member successfully opened the door and escaped from the sinking vehicle. Fellow municipality employees immediately leaped into the water to assist, helping to bring both individuals safely back to shore.

Eyewitnesses noted that a potential tragedy was averted due to the fortunate absence of people standing in the vehicle's path when it veered toward the water. Following the incident, recovery efforts were undertaken and the vehicle was successfully retrieved from the river.
