An Air India flight traveling from San Francisco to Delhi was forced to make an unscheduled landing at Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia after the crew detected a possible technical issue during the journey, according to a statement released by the airline.
The airline confirmed, "The aircraft landed safely at Ulaanbaatar and is currently undergoing necessary technical inspections. We are collaborating with our partners to provide support for all passengers while making efforts to resume their journey to their intended destination as soon as possible."
Air India expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by this unforeseen situation, emphasizing that "the safety of passengers and crew remains our highest priority."
Data available on the flight tracking platform Flightradar24.com indicated that the aircraft involved was a Boeing 777.
The airline has arranged accommodations and meals for the affected passengers during their unexpected stay in Mongolia.
Additionally, Air India stated that they are actively working on alternative arrangements to transport the passengers to Delhi at the earliest opportunity.
The Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed it is providing all possible assistance to the Air India passengers currently stranded in Mongolia.
