Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated at NDTV Bihar Power Play that a Gen Z protest similar to what occurred in Nepal is not possible in India.
Speaking with NDTV Editor-in-Chief Rahul Kanwal in Patna, Shah emphasized, "India is not Nepal. Our democratic roots are very strong and deep. I don't think a Gen Z protest is possible here."
He further elaborated, "The youth of our nation work very hard and contribute to the nation's development. I don't think a Nepal-like protest is possible."
Shah asserted that the only certainty would be the return of "jungle raaj" in Bihar if voters elected the Mahagathbandhan. During his interview, he addressed various topics including Bihar election matters and national issues such as the Maoist insurgency, which he claimed would soon end.
In September, Nepal witnessed violent protests where over 73 people lost their lives. Gen Z protesters set fire to the nation's parliament, courts, and government buildings. These demonstrations were initially sparked by a brief social media ban but were fueled by long-standing frustrations over economic hardship and corruption.
Earlier that day, Shah urged Bihar's citizens to support the NDA alliance and highlighted the achievements of the state government and commitments outlined in the NDA's 'Sankalp Patra'. Due to unfavorable weather conditions, he addressed a virtual public rally instead of flying to Gopalganj as originally planned.
"People of Gopalganj know about the deeds of Sadhu Yadav. During the time of jungle raj, countless murder incidents happened. Instead, PM Modi and Nitish Kumar worked for good governance in Bihar," Shah remarked.
Bihar's upcoming elections are scheduled in two phases on November 6 and 11, with vote counting to take place on November 14.
