Ranchi:
On Thursday, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan emphasized that the 'fauj' (military) stands as the only institution free from nepotism, while encouraging students to consider military careers for national service and broadening their horizons.
Speaking with schoolchildren in Ranchi, Gen Chauhan highlighted how the armed forces had maximized their efforts this year to rescue civilians during numerous natural disasters.
"The 'fauj' represents the sole environment where nepotism doesn't exist... If your ambition is to serve the nation while exploring both our country and the world, you should aspire to join the armed forces," he stated.
Regarding Operation Sindoor, Gen Chauhan revealed that the initial strike was executed at 1 am on May 7, specifically timed to minimize civilian casualties.
"Executing precision strikes against distant targets during nighttime required extraordinary efforts," he explained.
Operation Sindoor was initiated following the Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in 26 fatalities, primarily tourists.
