PM Modi Announces Major Progress in India's Fight Against Maoist Terror: Districts Affected Reduced from 125 to 3

Prime Minister Modi declared that Maoist-affected districts in India have decreased from 125 to merely three over the past 11 years, expressing confidence that complete elimination of Maoist terror is imminent.

During his visit to Raipur, PM Modi participated in various events commemorating Chhattisgarh's 25th formation anniversary. He emphasized India's role as a reliable global partner and first responder during international crises.

Speaking at the 'Chhattisgarh Rajat Mahotsav' in Nava Raipur, the Prime Minister praised the state's remarkable development journey, describing it as a "banyan tree of progress" that has grown from seeds planted 25 years ago.

Modi expressed profound satisfaction regarding Chhattisgarh's liberation from Maoist violence, which had inflicted immense suffering on its citizens for over five decades. He criticized previous administrations, stating, "Those who display the Constitution and shed crocodile tears about social justice have actually committed injustice for their vested interests."

The Prime Minister highlighted how Maoist ideology deprived tribal regions of essential infrastructure. "For years, tribal villages lacked roads, schools, and hospitals. Existing facilities were destroyed with bombs. Healthcare professionals and educators were killed. Previous governments abandoned these communities while enjoying comfort in air-conditioned offices," Modi remarked.

He shared his personal motivation to address the issue: "I could not bear witnessing mothers grieving for their children. When entrusted with leadership in 2014, we committed to eradicating Maoist terror from India. Today, the results speak for themselves."

The Prime Minister noted significant progress, stating that Maoist-affected districts have decreased from 125 to just three. "I assure you that complete freedom from Maoist terror across Chhattisgarh and India is approaching rapidly," he declared.

Recent months have seen numerous Maoists surrendering throughout the country, including many with substantial bounties on their heads. "In Kanker, over 20 Naxals recently surrendered. Earlier in October, more than 200 Maoists laid down their weapons in Bastar. They have now accepted India's Constitution and chosen peaceful coexistence," Modi reported.

The Prime Minister described the transformation in previously troubled areas: Chikapalli village in Bijapur received electricity for the first time in 70 years, while Rekawaya village in Abujhmad region saw its first school since Independence. Development initiatives are progressing in Puvarti village, once a notorious terror hub, where the national flag now proudly flies where Maoist symbols once dominated.

"Despite facing Naxalism for 25 years, Chhattisgarh persevered in its development. With Naxalism's decline, our progress will accelerate significantly," Modi affirmed.

At the inauguration of the Shanti Shikhar spiritual center established by Brahma Kumaris in Nava Raipur, Modi emphasized his government's commitment to national development through state-level advancement.

"India consistently steps forward as a reliable partner during global crises. We are always the first responders," the Prime Minister stated. "Our tradition recognizes divinity in every being, and our rituals conclude with prayers for universal prosperity and harmony."

Modi highlighted the government's focus on the Viksit Bharat mission to develop India, acknowledging organizations like Brahma Kumaris for their vital contributions to this journey. "I've maintained connections with you for decades. I'm not a guest here—I'm part of this community," he told attendees.

During his visit, the Prime Minister participated in the 'Dil Ki Baat' program, interacting with 2,500 children who received treatment for congenital heart conditions at Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital. Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar attended the ceremony.

Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects worth Rs 14,260 crore spanning roads, industry, healthcare, and energy sectors. He also unveiled Chhattisgarh's new assembly building and a statue honoring former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Reflecting on Chhattisgarh's transformation, Modi noted how the state has evolved from being associated with Maoist violence and underdevelopment to becoming "a symbol of prosperity, security, and stability."

The Prime Minister emphasized that legislative assemblies serve beyond lawmaking, functioning as "vibrant centers for shaping the state's destiny." He urged that "every idea emanating from here should reflect public service, development commitment, and the ambition to elevate India."

Modi highlighted his administration's housing initiatives, stating that homes have been provided to four crore disadvantaged citizens over the past 11 years, with plans to construct three crore additional dwellings. At the Rajat Mahotsav event, he personally handed keys to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Chhattisgarh.

"Having experienced poverty firsthand, I've prioritized welfare for disadvantaged populations since becoming Prime Minister," Modi explained.

The Prime Minister inaugurated the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Memorial and Tribal Freedom Fighters Museum in Nava Raipur, institutions dedicated to preserving the legacy of tribal communities' courage and patriotism. He launched the museum portal and "Aadi Shourya" e-book honoring freedom fighters, while unveiling an equestrian statue of Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh.

Modi also inaugurated 12 new Start-Up Village Entrepreneurship Programme blocks across nine districts, released a Rs 1,200 crore installment benefiting 300,000 citizens under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), and laid foundation stones for significant highway projects including the four-lane Pathalgaon–Kunkuri greenfield highway and the Narayanpur–Maharashtra border highway.
