At Tata Eureka Park in Noida's Sector 150, two women endured a frightening ordeal when they became trapped in a sauna for over 30 minutes after the door malfunctioned and their calls for help went unheard. One of the women suffers from high blood pressure, adding to the severity of the situation.
Residents Parul Chaturvedi and Taruna had scheduled a 30-minute steam bath session around 12:30 pm on Tuesday. When their time concluded and they attempted to exit, they discovered the door was jammed. Despite their loud shouts and banging on the door, no security personnel or staff came to their assistance.
Growing increasingly anxious, the women resorted to breaking through the sauna's false ceiling in search of something to force the door open. Eventually, they located a rod which they used to break the lock and free themselves after being trapped for more than half an hour.
"We became panicked when nobody responded to our shouts for help. We had no choice but to break the door lock ourselves to escape after thirty minutes," one woman explained in a recorded video statement.
The residents expressed frustration that despite paying maintenance fees of Rs 4.25 per square foot along with various other charges, the quality of facilities and services at the housing complex remains substandard.
Fellow residents have also voiced concerns about the management's performance, highlighting that the absence of essential safety measures is particularly alarming considering the high maintenance fees collected from residents.
