Heroic Kerala Nurses Perform Lifesaving CPR on Air Arabia Flight: A Mid-Air Medical Emergency Success Story

Two Kerala nurses, embarking on their first international journey to the UAE for new employment opportunities, became unexpected heroes when they saved a fellow passenger's life during an Air Arabia flight.

Abhijith Jees, 26, from Wayanad, and Ajeesh Nelson, 29, from Chengannur, were traveling from Kochi to Abu Dhabi on Air Arabia flight 3L128 when they noticed a Kerala man in severe respiratory distress approximately twenty minutes after takeoff.

Acting swiftly, the two healthcare professionals rushed to assist the struggling passenger who had suffered a cardiac arrest. "I checked his pulse, but there was none. I knew he was in cardiac arrest," Abhijith explained. "I immediately started CPR and alerted the crew."

The nurses performed two rounds of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), successfully stabilizing the passenger until he regained both pulse and breathing function. Their quick intervention was supplemented by Dr. Arif Abdul Khadir, another passenger on board, who administered intravenous fluids and monitored the patient's vital signs throughout the remainder of the flight.

"When I saw him move, I felt a deep sense of relief," Abhijith shared. "It reminded me that we carry our responsibility wherever we go."

Remarkably, after landing, the two nurses continued to their new workplace without mentioning their lifesaving actions to anyone. The story only emerged later through another passenger who witnessed the incident.

The rescued passenger received further treatment from airport medical personnel and was reported to be in stable condition. His grateful family expressed profound appreciation for the two nurses: "They were strangers, yet they gave our loved one another chance at life. Their kindness and courage will always stay in our prayers."
