In Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, a man who murdered his sister and placed her body in a sack told police officers that the large bag contained wheat when questioned.

Ram Ashish Nishad, 32, killed his 19-year-old sister Neelam during a disagreement over Rs 6 lakh compensation their father, Chinku Nishad, had received for land acquired for a road development project. Reports indicate he was displeased about the funds being allocated for his sister's upcoming wedding.

On Monday, Ram allegedly strangled Neelam with a piece of cloth, broke her limbs to fit her body into a sack, secured it to his motorcycle, and transported it approximately 70 kilometers to dispose of it in a sugarcane field in Kushinagar.

Surveillance footage revealed Ram transporting a sack believed to contain his sister's remains. While en route to Kushinagar, police officers stopped him and inquired about the contents of the sack.

Ram claimed the sack contained wheat and was permitted to continue his journey to Kushinagar, where he abandoned Neelam's body in the sugarcane field.

When Neelam disappeared, her father initially assumed she had gone to participate in Chhath Puja celebrations. However, suspicions arose when neighbors reported seeing Ram departing his residence with a large sack on Monday, prompting the family to contact authorities.

Police registered a missing person report and launched an investigation. By Tuesday, Neelam's family filed a formal complaint alleging that Ram had murdered the young woman.

During questioning, Ram initially denied involvement but eventually confessed to the murder. Authorities recovered Neelam's decomposing body from the field on Wednesday night.

Neelam had been scheduled to marry in January. Her father Chinku had intended to use the Rs 6 lakh compensation payment for her wedding expenses, which angered Ram, who had demanded a portion of the money for himself.
