UK High Commission Confirms Fugitive Gangster Nilesh Ghaywal's Presence in London on Visitor Visa

The UK High Commission in India has confirmed that fugitive gangster Nilesh Ghaywal is currently in London on a 'visitor' visa, and has notified UK authorities about the revocation of his passport, according to a senior police official's statement on Wednesday.

Pune Police, suspecting that Ghaywal had escaped India by fraudulently obtaining a passport, reached out to the British High Commission requesting his detention and deportation back to India.

"We have received a response from the High Commission confirming Ghaywal's presence in London on a visitor visa. They verified that he is there to visit his son. The High Commission has also informed us that they have notified the relevant department in the UK about Indian agencies revoking Ghaywal's passport," stated Sambhaji Kadam, Deputy Commissioner of Police.

Shortly before his disappearance, authorities had filed a case against Ghaywal in the city after his associates allegedly shot and injured an individual in the Kothrud area following a road rage incident on September 18.
