Delhi Civic Body Doubles Off-Road, Indoor Parking Fees Under GRAP Stage-II

New Delhi:

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) announced on Wednesday a doubling of parking fees at all off-road and indoor parking facilities within the NDMC area following the implementation of Stage-II of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), which has been activated due to deteriorating air quality in the capital.

As per an official notice, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has mandated the enforcement of Stage-II ('Very Poor' Air Quality) measures across the Delhi-NCR region as the city's Air Quality Index (AQI) exhibited an upward trend, reaching 302 by 7 pm on Tuesday.

"In accordance with the directive issued by CAQM, the parking fees for off-road and indoor facilities have been increased to double the current rates for NDMC-managed parking locations until Stage-II of GRAP is revoked, effective from October 29," a senior NDMC official informed PTI.

The official further stated that NDMC currently oversees 126 parking sites, comprising 99 off-road facilities, three indoor/multi-level car parks, and 24 on-street parking locations.

"A total of 102 parking sites will be affected by this parking fee enhancement decision," the official added.

Under the new fee structure, parking for four-wheelers will now cost Rs 40 per hour instead of the previous Rs 20, while two-wheelers will be charged Rs 20 per hour. Bus parking fees have been raised from Rs 150 to Rs 300 per hour.

The notice specified that this increase will not apply to on-street parking sites and monthly pass holders, as these rates are already set at higher levels.
