Vadodara:
Police in Vadodara have initiated an investigation after a local couple reported their 28-year-old son has been allegedly held captive in Thailand for five months, according to an official statement.
Nagarbhai Ranpara and his wife Rita, residents of Vadodara, have expressed concerns that their son Tushar has had no communication with them for five months. They believe he is being held against his will in Thailand by agents who convinced him to relocate to the Southeast Asian nation approximately one year ago.
The worried parents recently filed an application at Sama police station in Vadodara requesting assistance to locate their son and secure his safe return to India.
Given the gravity of the situation, Assistant Commissioner of Police ('G' division) GB Bambhaniya announced on Wednesday that the case has been transferred to the Vadodara city crime branch for thorough investigation.
"According to the application submitted by Tushar's parents, he initially traveled to Dubai in April last year to work for a private company with assistance from two local immigration agents. Subsequently, a Dubai-based agent named Abhishek Kumar arranged for his relocation to Thailand in September 2024. The parents claim they lost all contact with Tushar five months ago," explained Bambhaniya.
"The couple believes their son is being forcibly detained and compelled to work without his consent. The crime branch has been tasked with locating Tushar and establishing contact with him as quickly as possible," the official added.
Ranpara has made a heartfelt plea to both the Gujarat government and central authorities to help find his son and bring him back home.
"After arriving in Thailand last year, he maintained regular contact through video and voice calls. However, we haven't received any calls from him in the past five months. We fear the agents involved in his relocation to Thailand have confiscated his phone and are holding him captive. We earnestly appeal to both state and central governments to help bring our son back," he told reporters.
