Dawood Ibrahim Aide Emerges As Drug Syndicate 'Kingpin', Arrested In Goa

The Narcotics Control Bureau has successfully apprehended Danish Chikna, a close associate of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim, in Goa. Danish, also known as Danish Merchant, has been identified as the "kingpin" of a significant drug syndicate operating across India.

According to officials who announced the arrest on Wednesday, Danish had been evading authorities while managing the drug network connected to Dawood Ibrahim's criminal organization throughout the country.

During the operation, the NCB arrested Danish along with three other individuals and confiscated 1.341 kg of mephedrone from their possession.

The investigation began when NCB Mumbai intercepted a suspect in Pune on September 18, seizing 502 grams of mephedrone. This led to a subsequent raid where authorities discovered an additional 839 grams of the illicit substance at the Mumbai residence of Danish and his wife.

Investigators identified Danish as the mastermind behind the drug syndicate, operating alongside his wife. The couple had been traveling across multiple states in an attempt to avoid detection and obscure their movement patterns.

After extensive surveillance and tracking efforts, authorities located the fugitives at a holiday resort in Goa. An NCB team successfully captured the couple on October 25 at the resort. Following thorough interrogation, both suspects were formally arrested, as stated in the NCB's official release.

Danish has a history of drug-related offenses. Both the NCB and Rajasthan police had previously filed three cases against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Additionally, Mumbai police have registered seven criminal cases against Danish. Law enforcement had previously issued an externment order against him, prohibiting him from entering Mumbai municipal limits.
